Degree of Comparison

Apa itu Degree of Comparisons ???

Comparison Degree merupakan istilah dalam grammar Bahasa Inggris untuk menunjukkan perbandingan.

1. Comparative Degree

Comparative degree termasuk di dalam topik Degree of comparison , yaitu digunakan untuk menyatakan sifat atau keterangan suatu hal lebih unggul disbanding yang lain .

Example :

·       Mr. Raihan is taller than Mr. Ivan .

·       A train is faster than a bus.

·       Wendy’s hair is shorter than Dian’s hair .

Untuk membuat sebuah kalimat Comparative Degree , terdapat dua jenis rumus yang bisa kita pergunakan. Pilihan penggunaan rumus tergantung pada penggunaan Adjective dalam kalimat, apakah terdiri dari satu syllable atau 2 syllable (suku kata.

Rumus :  Adjective + er + than

Rumus diatas digunakan ketika sebuah kalimat dalam bahasa Inggris, kata sifat atau adjective yang digunakan hanya satu syllable.

Contoh  :

·  The Informatics exam was easier than Physics.

  (Ujian Informatika lebih mudah daripada Fisika).

·  Kaka is stronger than Leo (Kaka lebih kuat daripada Leo)

·  Rany is taller than Wina (Rany lebih tinggi daripada Wina)

·  Canada is colder than any other countries in winter (Canada lebih dingin daripada negara-negara lain pada saat musim dingin)

·  She is happier than me (Dia lebih bahagia daripada aku)

·  His arms is stronger than mine (Lengannya lebih kuat daripada lenganku)

·  Cat is smarter than dog (Kucing lebih pintar daripada anjing)

 

If an adjective has three syllables or more , then the word “ more “ is used.

·       Rina is more beautiful than Nia.

·       Rio’s notebook is more expensive than Adi’s notebook.

2. The Superlative Form

To compare three or more people or things, we use the superlative form of adjective. The superlative form is usually made by adding “ – est “ to the adjective.
